Senior Intellectual Property Counsel, SUEZ

Crystal M. Lacey, Esquire is a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel for Suez Water Technologies & Solutions (formerly General Electric Water & Process Technologies) supporting the Chemical and Monitoring Solutions business. In her role, she is responsible for domestic and international legal issues that are related to intellectual property, including freedom to operate reviews, management of patent and trademark prosecution, agreement drafting and negotiation.

Prior to devoting herself full time to the practice of law, Crystal spent 10 years as an engineer in the chemical and filtration industries for the Rohm & Haas Company and Pall Corporation. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration from Drexel University. While matriculating at the Widener University School of Law (Delaware Campus), she worked full-time and participated in the Civil Law Clinic where she represented indigent clients in various civil matters. She also earned her LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University.

Crystal began her legal career as an employment and family law attorney. She later found and managed Lacey Law, LLC, where she focused her practice on intellectual property, complex family law matters, wills and estate law and small business matters. In 2015, she accepted an assignment in the General Electric Company’s Global Patent Operation based in Fairfield, CT. Very active in the legal community, she is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, and served on the 2018 Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention.

Crystal’s contributions extend far beyond the legal community. She mentors female undergraduates attending local universities and is a member of the Omega Omega chapter of her beloved sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a board member and officer of the 1926 Foundation, Inc., which raises funds to provide scholarship assistance to high school and college students and to support community groups and local charitable organizations.

Crystal is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

She is also a member of the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new cuisines and traveling.
